Why Your Artwork Is Garbage!

You have heard the phrase "garbage in, rubbish out. "it is also true when they are saying "What You See Is What You Get.

We all need and hope for the "camera ready" design to turn up on our desk or PC files.

Even with the most recent software, some design can present a challenge to make prepared for certain applications.

Almost all of our clients ( and I suspect yours too ) do not realize that you may not be ready to achieve the same "look", in comparison to what they see on a print out. Relying on the application an image could need to be changed to make allowance for a better illustration. Naturally we should not expect our buyers to grasp this matter, after all that is the reason why they come to us.

One of the most useful tips I received early on in my career was to proffer my purchaser return to their "printer" ( person or company who made their business cards or letterhead ) for crisp, pointy design. By recommending to my shopper to have their printer forward me the design, it might often eliminate us having to "clean up" the image pointlessly. Naturally there are the times when your buyer brings in a paper sack or tissue, in which they have doodled a concept for you to emboss or engrave. These are the eventualities when it's sweet to have an artist on call or somebody available to "redraw" the emblem for production purposes. Most tiny shops don't have the luxurious of having such talent in house but once more, early on in my venture I learned to tap into alternative sources.

When we initially began out in the symbol business, the sole "artist" was myself. Telling it like it's the best drawing I ever did was in my first dot-to-dot coloring book. When it comes to free hand drawing, I look to others with the God given talent. The solution? I paid a trip to our local school and also telephoned the universities in our area, attempting to find artists. There were many people I met thru this process and I continue to use 2 of them in my existing business today. What I learned was, if I needed to offer my shopper with a top spec trademark.

I wanted to commence with something with value. Even if it meant having to hire an artist to recreate the drawing, it was worth the effort. Having a quality image to work from made all of the difference in the world when digitising the design. I recommend to you, by beginning with perfect quality in your design, you'll dodge putting out the rubbish.
